Eathos Mrkt is about to start doing the grocery shopping for a first group of Nashville households. The Midtown service opens its founding spots in late October and hands members one curated bag a week, filled with seasonal food from farms and makers near Nashville, ready for pickup every Thursday.
Members choose a classic or vegetarian bag for $75 a week, or pay every four weeks and save 11 percent. Each bag holds eight to ten items, enough for about three meals for two people, and a card inside names who grew what. A sample November bag runs from butternut squash and collards to pasture raised eggs, dried beans and specialty mushrooms, and extras like bread, cheese and chicken can be added by Tuesday night. Anyone can skip or pause a week.
Pickup is at 614 18th Avenue North, with three Thursday windows from late morning into the evening. The first group of founding households is already set, a waitlist is open for the next spots, and the first pickups begin in November.
Behind it is founder René Bryant, who spent a decade cooking in Chicago kitchens and studied food business at the Culinary Institute of America before turning to product design. Eathos, short for eat hospitality, is set up as a public benefit company, giving nearby producers a steady place to sell.
