Slide Hustle on 3rd, the farm-to-table slider pop-up Nashville has been chasing for four years, opens its first restaurant this October in a restored 110-year-old cottage on 3rd Avenue North in Germantown. Chef Heidi Barrette is still finishing the house, and the menu promises really, really good sliders, small bites, a coffee bar, and cocktails and mocktails on the patio.

The sliders are built on Bear Creek Farm dry-aged beef, with Bloomsbury Farm greens, Benton's bacon, and Sequatchie Cove cheese, plus fresh-cut fries and vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-friendly options. One fixture comes from Barrette's childhood in Kona, Hawaii: an ahi slider that stays on the menu for her mother, Carol.

The cottage is part of the story. Barrette and her team preserved its history on purpose. The family bar table is the original front door, restored by a friend, and stray horseshoes around the property nod to what the land was used for a century ago. Her welcome runs on ohana, the idea that everyone who walks in gets treated like family.

It has been a long road to a front door of her own. Barrette moved to Nashville in early 2022 and did her first pop-up here in a tent, in the snow, by herself. Hundreds of pop-ups later, she promised her small staff a place of their own. The restaurant is taking names for the opening date announcement, and if the last four years are any guide, the line will form fast.
