Au Cheval, the Chicago restaurant whose cheeseburger has a national reputation, is opening at 2212 12th Ave S in 12 South, in the Ashwood development. The brand's own Nashville page gives the timing as late 2026, and the Tennessean's fall preview puts the target at mid-November.
The restaurant is a partnership between Brendan Sodikoff of Chicago-based Hogsalt Hospitality and Sam Fox, whose Nashville work includes The Twelve Thirty Club and The Henry. At about 5,000 square feet, it is a full restaurant, not a burger counter. The menu stays close to the original: the double-patty cheeseburger with American cheddar, pickles, onions and dijonnaise on brioche, plus elevated diner fare like foie gras with scrambled eggs, roasted marrow bones and steak frites, with a few Nashville-specific additions promised.
It lands a short walk from another fall arrival, the second Nashville location of Mother's Ruin, which makes this stretch of 12 South one of the season's stories. Read the Mother's Ruin update.
