The Truth is open. The new live-music venue at 440 Chestnut Street in Wedgewood-Houston opened on October 1, and its first night was a statement of scale: Miranda Lambert, sold out, in a room that holds 4,400 people. That capacity puts The Truth in a different class from most of the city's clubs and theaters the moment it starts.

The venue comes from Live Nation and AJ Capital Partners, and it fills a gap Nashville has had for a while. Between the smaller rooms across the city and the arena downtown, there has not been much built for acts that can draw a few thousand people without going to Bridgestone Arena. A 4,400-capacity room in Wedgewood-Houston gives touring acts a Nashville stop sized between the club circuit and the arena. The venue is cashless and takes mobile tickets only.

The calendar is already full. Kevin Gates plays Saturday, October 24, and EsDeeKid follows on Sunday, October 25. HARDY plays two nights, October 29 and 30, and Beck is there on Halloween, October 31. GloRilla plays November 4, and Goose plays two nights on November 10 and 11. For concertgoers, it means more of the tours that used to pass over a mid-size Nashville room now have a reason to stop.
